D for Dharma
I quote from the Bhagavd Gita here - A book that I refer to when I need guidance. (Oh there are other books too - Bharathiyar Kavidhaigal for instance). There are various verses in this brilliant text and I quote here one of my favorites.
Yadha Yadha Hi Dharmasya
Glanir Bhavathi Bharatha |
Abhyuthaanam Adharmasya
Thadhatmanam Srijami Aham ||
Parithraanaaya Saadhoonam
Vinashaya Cha Dhushkritam |
Dharmasanstapnaya
Sambhavaami Yuge Yuge ||
When righteousness (Dharma) fails (or declines) and the unrighteousness (adharma) is on the rise, I will descend upon the Earth.
For the protection of the good and destruction of evil, and to stabilize Dharma, I will be born in every Yuga.

ReplyDeleteBut Dharma means way of life isn't it? Each have their own dharma to follow. So how can we differentiate Dharma and Adharma? Orey the confusion. As Kamal said, To know the righteousness of wolf, you need to be a wolf. I still believe as I thought when I was 5, This kurukshetra is one periya bongattam.
ReplyDeleteAhaaa Bhagavad Gita superr :D
ReplyDeleteBhagavad Gita, these are the lines which come after the title song of the famous serial Mahabharatha. These lines are always the most remembered lines in the Gita :)
